Question run electrical cables through handlebar

Anybody got tips on how to run the electrical wiring through a handle bar for a '94 Fatboy.

What's the best ? Disconnect the connectors under the tank or de-solder the controls ?

Any how-to's/clues/pics/video's appreciated.

resolder controls & shrink wrap. pull a snake (thin wire) attach wires tape ends get them past controls. Do all the solder/shrink then pull back all access..Should come out nice. Good luck

P.S. ON '94 do you have the easy pull pins, that come right out of housing? My 98 Fatboy was cake to do! just remember what wires what (wire markers/#'s work great)

New bikes are a biatch!!

There's a tool that unplugs the pins out of the factory plugs. You make a "map" of what color wires goes in that plug hole, shove safety wire up the bars and out the hole at the dimple, make a "V" at the end, tape the wires to it and pull them through, then plug them back in the connector holes in the correct spots......

NO SOLDER. NO SPLICING. NO SHRINK WRAP.

Does anyone know if you can do this on a sporty. It would look so nice if all the wires disappeared..

You can do it on any bike if you drill the holes and have the patience. Custom bikes have clean bars because this is a common practice.

I read that you drill 1/2" holes for the wires on each side. Does this have any effect on the strength of the bars?

Thanks for posting ironman, I've been curious myself!
