1976 Ironhead Pinion Gear? Bendix Gear? Video?

I have a 1976 ironhead I just bought. Its a project bike that has been sitting for a while. Stole a battery from another bike and hooked it up. See video below. Thought it was the Pinion Gear so replaced it.
It was doing this, I replaced the Pinion gear and it still does the same thing. This is actually a video of the new pinion gear. Did I get a bad replacement?

Click on the underlined segment of RB1s post and that will get You there.
It seems a lot of folks on this forum are kinda shy about answering questions if We do`nt know You.

I have never been to a forum that you need to introduce yourself. Will I first be a hang around, then a prospect and them get my patch? Is this a 1%er or 99%er forum?

I am 25, Married, living in St. Louis Mo, Like long walks on the beach. Used to be a welder and metal fabricator, now I am a car dealer. I have 3 bikes. 2001 Heritage Springer, 1997 Police, and 1976 Ironhead with 71 XLCH motor that doesn't turn over because I think I have a bad replacement bendix gear. I reached out for help and hope to get it from the coolest forum ever that can tell when a guy is typing all in fun.

There has been a lot of people come into the forum that ask for help/advice and then they are never heard from again and with that a lot of the members with a lot of wisdom and knowlege started refusing to answer questions that are brought forth by one posters.
Do a proper introduction and enjoy the welcomeing committee and I`ll about bet You will get more answers to the problem You are having than You will care to read.
This is "The Very Best Forum" out here in Cyberland and I`d about bet in a few posts You will be laughing and having as much fun as anyone can have without dying.

Watched the video , the starter over run clutch is releasing . Either the clutch is bad or there's something tight in the drive line or engine . Can ya turn the engine over with a wrench on the comp sprocket nut ? Does the drivetrain turn freely ?

The Bendix gear looks too big and isn't meshing with the clutch ring gear OR you have the wrong gear/Jackshaft combo and it's not long enough to get to the ring gear.

A little odd.....but have you checked to make sure the clutch basket hasn't come loose on the mainshaft and moved away from the bendix gear?
