Police tach

Does anyone know if the oem 2006 RK police tach is a three or seven wire tach? If it is a seven wire deal, can a three wire be wired to work? It's been a long time, but all the tachs I remember had three wires. A hot, grnd. and signal wire. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

It might be wired into a multi-pin connector but the tachs only use 3 wires.

I bought a three wire unit off ebay for $65.00, as that was all I'd ever seen. Then I found out some units have seven wires into a connector. I know I really don't need a tach. Might not even put it on, it all depends. Since I have a flhpi and it being an option on the police bike, I thought it looked cool. Thanks for the info.

All you need to do is find the pink wire, that's the tach signal wire. The orange and black are positive and negative. The positive might be orange/white. The pink wire on your bike should be located in the speedo harness, taped up to the harness wiring before it gets to the speedo.
