stator knock
put new stator pt #53605 on my 76 shovell , since then when it gets up to op temp it devolopes a knock at idle, any help would be apprecated

A stator won't cause a knock. The front sprocket you took off for the primary chain will if it wasn't tightened correctly....especially if you put a thurst washer behind the bolt and not to space the sprocket out correctly on the end shaft.

running no compensator & using recomened spacer as per manual, all reqired measuring to use right spacer required. it worked out to 65000. starting to wonder if noise is coming from elsewhere. motor is fresh,trans was gone over. thanks for ur imput

Have you adjusted the primary chian correctly?
TIghtened the clutch basket correcly?

Got a good clamp load on your rotor? An old rotor that has been run without a good clamp load can knock. Check the splines for wear and there should be NO wiggle when loaded. Did you replace thr rotor too? Lots of aftermarket stuff requires shims before and after the rotor. Sam.

all ajustments done to the book. new s&s bottom end,new rotor/stator/chain/blk & basket . just button'd it up & going for a ride. i'll be back inwhile thanks

i'd like to thank all for ur help, turned out to be clutch fingers , the only thing that wasn't brand new,it had 4000 miles on it.. running good and strong , no knock. this site is the first time i've ever used one. again thanks. just got to learn how to use this site
