break light

i recently purchased a 89 fltc recently i noticed i have no break light
i have power to the foot switch, power to the plug's in the fairing. both switches are working (ie continuity test) i can light the light with a power probe. if i back feed power to the light i hear a clicking sound from the left side inside the fairing. as of today i havent remover the outer fairing but will if needed. any help is most appreciated

I don't recall any relays that would cause any "clicking" sound..... unless a previous owner installed some sort of auxillary brake lighting. Then all bets are off.

May have to do some looking for an offending aftermarket relay.
