6 speed trans break down on 08 Road Glide
I took my bike into the dealer on Saturday to have some Warranty work done, 2 hours later the dealer is calling me to let me know that they just found metal shavings in the transmission fluid.
Now my bike is down for about 2 weeks.
Service manger told me that he has had a few bikes in with 60 to 70,000 miles on them with about the same problem.
Good thing I'm still under the factory warranty by 1 month.
I'm not too happy about this; the only thing left on the bike that hasn't been touched for warranty is the motor.

Just found out what went wrong with my transmission.
Main drive carrier bearing went out. They also found the ball bearings flying around in the case.
Now I’m also getting a new case along with new inners.
I've also been told that Harley has a bulletin out on this problem.

You're lucky. It's under warranty.
He had a demo to ride. Are you getting one?
A carrier bearing is the weight carrying braing for the trans. I wonder if trans fluid (brand/type) had anything to do with it, or is this another failure due to "Cheapest bidder for a part"?

I did get a rental, a 2009 Road Glide through the extended service plan.
I don’t have to spend a dime for the bike; the plan takes care of that.
I used the Harley transmission fluid in the last 3-10,000 mile services.
Also not only did the ball bearing go flying around the case, but the outer set of bearings welded them selves to the outer race of the shaft.
