No, oil coolers are a great investment for your bike. Going to put one on my bike over the winter.

I've thought about one but I'm not crazy about the look. I seldom get stuck in traffic so there is always air circulating. I don't think I really need it. Also if I do get stuck in traffic and have a cooler, air won't be circulating over the cooler anyway so other that the extra oil that the cooler holds I don't know how much cooling is going on.

Seriously. You gotta run an oil cooler on a Shovel down here in FLA if you want the motor to live a long happy life. Even if aren't moving an oil cooler will act as a heat sink help dissipate some heat.

Can't go wrong with a oil cooler.

I keep thinking about one since I ride in E. Wash. in the summer and south of Tucson, AZ. from Sept. into June. I have an 08 Ultra that runs very warm on the thighs so I may do it soon. What's the favorite?

Well let me put it this way the Sportster is the last bike in the Harley line up that would need a cooler.
