Engine upgrade

I would like to upgrade the power in my 2006 softtail deuce. It has the 88 cubic inch engine now. I have changed the exhaust and intake and put it on the dyno.

Is the SE 103 kit the way to go or is it better to use some sort of combination such as mixing parts such CNC heads and other cams?

thanks

A good upgrade is the 95 inch kit, you don't have to change the crank...and the Andrews 37G gear drive cams are a great choice...plus you get ride of the Twin Cam chain drive cams and tensioners that are the Harley headache...While you're in the bottom replace the cam plate and oil pump with the Feauling units...You will have a bullet proof bottom end and great power and torque...all that's left is a good flowing exhaust and intake...I run a Thunderheader and an Arlen Ness Sidesucker....

+1 on the Thunderheader. Good choice.

the 95" kit is a pretty easy job,the 103" will require splitting the cases & replacing the flywheels with a 4 3/8 stroker unit.if your going to do that,i would go with S&S parts & go bigger (you can take a 88" to 124")

The 95" kit is the perfect cost effective mod, especially because you get the power at normal driving ranges plus the red-line is bumped up to 6250 and it's pulling good all the way if you ask it to.

If you could do the work yourself, you'd cut the cost by 2/3

If my bike was already going to be down for the winter, I might consider having some head work done, but the charts I compared when I did mine, made me decide that cam and heads were a lot of extra cost and meant moving some of the useful power out of the everyday driving range and into the high end where I didn't really spend mush time anyway. IMHO.
