1- Cam Support Kit installed... yeah self tapping screw and a washer with seal.

2- Baisley +15 spring installed. Stock Spring is the one on the right!

3- Finally Cam Plate installed.

4- Houston, I have a problem... I overlooked the fact the upgraded cam and plate use the spline 34T Cam Sprocket, not the old style! Oh well Andrews makes a kit... Whats 75 bucks and another weekend at least ....

Sorry I'm just catching up, link. I've been teaching a camp and vacationing with the fam. How did you figure out the sprocket was wrong?

Chief,
If you look at the last pic, you can see the rear cam has splines. This is the cam that takes the drive sprocket.

It became as obvious as getting smacked in the head with a 2X4 when I went to install the gears and chain...

On the early TC they used a Keyed Shaft type sprocket, this reportedly was also a failure point, hence the upgrade to spline shafts.

The other problem in the early TC's is this sprocket is also for the cam sensor. The sprocket has a raised portion on the face for this sensor. The later TC's cam drives do not have this sensor configuration.

While it is not a big deal, I just can't use any sprocket for TC which you can find cheaper than what I paid...

All in all it has been smooth as far as the work, parts are readily available. In the end I will know it was done a right as it could be!

1999/early2000 had keyway fit cam sprocket. 2001-up has splines. When I sent Garth the cam plate and cams, I completely overlooked that, even after holding a cam gear in my hand and saying "He doesn't ned this, he has to use his old gear, cause he has a cam sensor in the cam chest cover....."

Duh.

Sorry Garth.

Well I am happy to finally report I finished this part of the project.

I got it all buttoned up and she fired off first shot, no leaks, no fuss.

I did panic a bit(ok a lot) as it sounded like a ticking bomb before the lifters finally pumped up...

I had some apprehension about my ability to complete this project not to my mechanical skills, but my head has not been right as some know.

It was an awesome feeling to get motivated again and without a fog in my head it came back fairly easy. That is once I remembered where I put all the parts and pieces.

Again, a big thanks to Dave for his support and knowledge, always just a call away!
Thanks to Schmidtys as well always great feedback and support.
