Dave,

Thank you for contributing, I sincerely appreciate your effort.

Just in time too, I will be replacing my 07 stock compensator with the new SE compensator kit.

Just to clarify something: What I did, (all of it) was because I needed a new chain.

IF ALL YOU NEED IS TO ADD THE ADJUSTER, then simply removing the primary cover, removing the old adjuster by disassembling it, removing the adjuster plate off the inner primary and installing the shorter carriage bolt, and installing the new adjuster using the included directions, will be necessary. You'll still need fluid and gaskets.

WITH THIS JOB ONLY, I'd rate that at a 4-5, on the difficulty scale, if that. The only special tools needed will be allen bits, and an impact screwdriver.

I did the whole gig the WAY I DID, because I was adding a new chain as well, and wanted to update the adjuster to suit my lazy ass....

I don't know, cause I wasn't looking. Same concept though.....

Sporty has a 74 link chain, as where the big twin has an 82 link chain. More room to fit something in there, but in all honesty, I'd have to look it up.

Pretty much. The only major difference is the sporty clutch cable goes in that side (primary cover) as does the shifter arm. Not hard to maneuver around.

Dave, I'm going to take the lazy way out as some people do and ask if you know if that self adjusted would fit my 84 FL? It looks like it will. Do you have the PN# so I can check it out. Nice job by the way. Thanks

You'll love this....... the listing for the auto adjuster is for 1985 and up, FL.....

Here's the label....... (note where it's made, as was the primary chain.)
