Start button dead
Two months ago I bought a 2007 Ultra Classic with 4,000 miles. I've been towed 3 times for not starting while out and engine still hot. All things leading up to pushing the start button is normal injector pumps run, lights all normal just total nothing when start is pushed. Twice it started when it got to the dealer, one time they were sure they got it replaced a start relay? I didn't get a detail write up because the dealer didn't charge me. It happened again today, but it finally cranked just as the tow showed up. Besides not trusting this thing I'm going broke paying for tows. Any ideas help pls.

I just fixed a similar problem on an 02 Heritage. on a bagger it's easier to get to the starter motor than on a Softail. On the starter there is a small wire that energises the solenoid, if it's not getting power when the start button is pressed it won't turn the engine. If you take a wire from the + side of the battery to this with the ign. on it should crank and start. That eliminates the starter motor. As a dealer already changed the starter relay, I'm guessing your bike may have a similar problem to the Heritage.
When you press the start button it should power the starter relay which in turn energises the solenoid and turns the starter motor. Part of the security system requires the TSSM ( turn signal security module to earth ( ground ) the starter relay. The Heritage wasn't getting that earth / ground so I just poked a wire into the fuse block where the relay earth / ground terminal goes, pushed in the relay and ran the wire to the battery negaitve. I didn't have time to do the job properly because the owner was leaving for the European rally in Latvia the next day. A ten day trip later and a few thousand miles it still works 100%

Do you have custom grips ? Unscrew the two #27 torx screws from the front brake lever clamp and remove that half of the clamp , now look at the wire bundle that runs along the bottom of the bars . got any pinched wires there ? It's pretty common !

Same thing happened to me on my 09 SG two days after I bought it. Every time the Dealer came to pick it up it started just fine . Then it happened tothem when they off loaded the bike at the dealer and they said "they called Harley Plant Tech." and the starter button itself was bad. Replaced it and so far so good

Never mind the last statement....bike won't start AGAIN!!!!! had it back for 6 F'n days and again it is sitting in the frickn garage will not even turn over doesn't do a thing. I called the Dealership again and told them t come and pick up this $19,000+ frick'n paper weight and give me a different one....yeah I'm sure that will happen! I'm starting to think that these guys work there...
