Oil "leak"

I drove 500 miles on my 1990 FLHTP last weekend. It was my first tour after a major overhaul. Everything worked fine and I had lots of fun at a MC rally on the North Coast. The engine seems to hold oil well with one exception: IMHO, to much oil blows through the breather hose, into the aircleaner, and from there it leaks down to the motor, right side exhaust e.t.c. Bike gets messy and leaves a ugly pool every time I stop. Anything I can do to remedy this or make it less? Thanks, T

Carry a rag and live with it.

-OR-

Instead of having the crankcase vent into your air cleaner, run the hose down to the bottom of your bike and stick a small filter down there. There are other things (different rings, vent flapper, etc) that can be done but the blow-by is normal. And messy. I have a SE Stage-1 with the vents now running into a hose routed underneath.

A "pool" is too much. I'm wondering about the breather gear timing......

Thatīs what I thought, I can live with few drops here and there after a hard run but we are talking a pool here. Maybe itīs a worn gear......

Thanks for the good advice Rock Slide, this would keep the motor clean, but Mother Earth will still get here share..........

Oil consumption during these 500 miles was 1 liter. Nice power and torque, and runs very smoothly up to 75 miles, vibrates a wee bit if driven harder

Vibrations under hard accel may be a lean issue. Have you checked your plugs for a possible need to rejet?

Yes I have, and I think the jets are OK.
