advice please!

Ok, as some of you know i thought i had a crankcase leak, well turns out there are SEVERAL leaks. As Dave suggested there was a leak coming from the stator plug, also there are leaks from the gaskets where the heads connect. So i need some advice, what should i do? I already know i am going to have to replace the stator that is on its way out, but what should i do? Should i take the motor out and put new gaskets? Should i pay to have it done? Don't know what to do, I do have a service manual though, any suggestions? Any advice would be great! Thanx in advance!

How many miles on that Evo?I'd at least along with replace the stator pull the heads and barrels and do rings,but check piston to cyl.clearance naturally as you might want to bore and do a valve job.That wouldn't cost you too much if you did most of the tear down and istall after any neede machine work.Then you'd know your good to go.

At a minimum, the stator plug can be sealed with silicone from the outside. Mine is. The rubber plug shrinks with age. 4K and still sealed, and not noticabley repaired either.

The rockerbox gaskets are old, and simply have them replaced. After that, decide if you want to ride it or sell it. If you decide to keep it, then you can make future mods come winter time.....
