Scrubbing noise

My 2004 Dyna Superglide is making a scrubbing noise towards the rear tire. It is very faint when I first start, which made me think it was the rear break pad scrubbing (no big deal right). Well once I've been riding for a while it gets much louder and the tone doesn't change when I squeeze or push the breaks. Even when I'm rolling to a stop it does it. But its not constant. Its like a skipping scrub.

So is it a break pad?

Rotor?

Rear Wheel bearing?

Help!

Agreed. Especially where it sits between the belt and the tire. Look for rub marks on the tire as well.

So I took it to Harley. Paid for them to figure it out. They called me about 3 hours later and said they don't hear anything. Breaks look good. Belt looks good. Nothing scrubing. Then I took it out for a spin and guess what.....loud as it ever was. I don't know how they could miss it. Gonna take it back Tuesday. Hopefully they won't charge me this time. Im going to ride it until it starts making the noise and then take it.

Take them with you and let them hear what you hear! I doubt they would want to be the bitc* riding along with you....

I think that is a good idea. If they say it is not their policy for the mechs to ride as passengers, then inform them that it is not your policy to pay for what they don't fix.

I know from years ago when riding with other bikes, the other riders could hear things coming from a bike that the rider couldn't. So maybe a mech could ride next to you on another bike and hear what you are concerned about.
