backfire problem

i was riding home tonight and my bike started backfiring when i was not under a load. following a car at around 50 mph. was fine running at 70 or so. when i got close to home and slowed down to 30 it really started backfiring alot. and ideas?

Sounds like your running lean. Was the backfiring when you let off of the throttle? If so then your running too lean.

no it was when i was just kind of coasting. 30 mph in 3rd gear. constant speed

it was the idle circuit on the mikuni. not sure why it got out of wack but its running great now
