Installing an exhaust
Just bought an 09 Night train, first Harley for me. Been riding all my life, had a sportbike/dirt bike that I did all my own work on. I also work on airplanes, so I am maintenance savy. I am looking at getting an exhaust plus a fuel pack and thinking of doing the work myself. It looks easy to do, is there anything I need to know before I do it? Anyone had any problems? Or should I have the dealer do it and pay the 80 bucks an hour?
Sorry if this a repost, I did do a search and couldnt find anything.
Thanks for your help!

If you've done the work you say you have, you can handle the HD. Get a factory service manual and go to town.

As long as you have some descent tools to work with, and a service manual...go for it...the Dealership wants you to think they are the only people who can work on your scoot...I got tired of them screwing my scoot up...and hearing their excuses...

Nice pic blackdog!
Thats how I feel about the dealershits around here aswell. I hate paying for something when I can do it myself, and if something gets screwed up, atleast I can say I did it. Plus I like putting work into something and being able to say, "I DID IT!"

Follow your service manual as to the procedure for torque on the bolts at the head, pretty important... and make sure you don't over torque them...

You might conside installing a JAGG 10 core oil cooler, (much better thean a HD unit)..and if the heat is real bad also HD sell a fan unit that goes where your cowbell is that runs with a thermostat to blow air through between the front and back cylinder, reducing temps up to 25 degrees....works well too for parade duty...
