torque cones

I ride an 04 softtail standard with short Bassani pipes with thru-baffles and a Ness a/c . Its running a little lean so I'm going to order a jet kit as I'm planning a road trip and would like to sort it out before I go. Does anybody know what effect torque cones would have on my bike? Would it run richer/leaner, more power or less, or should I not bother? I read Dave's article on backpressure. Was a great read, and I learned lots (thanx Dave), but it didn't clear this up for me. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Torque cones produce a higher exhuast velocity, and help with engine scavenging. They'll help restore some of your midrange torque and will probably make the engine a tad richer, but not by much.

They help create some backpressure, but at the cylinder, where it's most needed.

Pulling the plugs would be first. If they're white, then adding fuel is our next step. Knowing where to add the fuel is important as well.

Shimming the needle jet is as important as increasing your main jet.

Changed plugs a few days ago, and they looked more gray than tan, which made me think it was a little lean. I'll pull them again to see what the new plugs look like.

Well, I went and pulled the plugs. After looking at them, and the old ones again, I'm not sure if its lean or not. They don't look that bad. I think I'll just put in the cones for now and see what the plugs look like then.
