Is 50' of exhuast wrap enough?

I just bought 2" x 50' of exhaust wrap and I intend on wrapping the actual pipe of my BUB Jug Huggers. I realize wrapping can be bad for the pipe but take into account I don't really like the Jug Huggers, I just don't want to spend money to buy new pipes right now. But I would like to get a new, rougher look out of them.

Anyway, do you think 50' is enough for both pipes?

According to the guy I talked to, I should wrap with a 1/4" overlap and I should soak the wrap for a closer fit. I got the black silicone spray, too, and the guy suggested even spraying the header pipe. Never heard of anyone doing that but if he says so! He also said it's easier to get a close wrap if I anchor wrap to a solid but thin object like a pole or something in order to maintain a tight fit. Good idea.

Thanks,
Nick

I'm thinking of wrapping a set of cheap drags and was offered some advise. Start at the back and work forward. Your overlap will be facing the rear and collect less debri. And have a second pair of hands. As for the length I couldn't say but good luck and I'd like to see some pics love the wrapped look...

The J&P catalogue says 44 inches of wrap are required per foot of 2" diameter pipe, with a 1/4" overlap. Each roll(50') will wrap approximately 13' of pipe, depending on size of pipe and amount of overlap.

I will probably be wrapping the pipe itself, not over the heatshields as I've seen some people do. I mention that because the actual pipes look more like V&H sideshots. The BUB Jug Huggers get their looks from the heat sheilds and the turn-out end caps which unfortunantly attach to the heat sheild and not the pipe itself. I will probably order some gnarly endcaps if I can find some in a long slash-cut that fit in there nice.

I will photograph or even video tape the process, no problem. I've never done this before so the feedback on the job will be great to have and I can redo it if I end up screwing it up. If I don't have enough wrap, I'll have to get more but the photos/video might be delayed by a long time, then. That is unless the Screamin' Eagle wrap is the same. I ordered the DEI wrap online with their silicone spray. I think I will have enough as I don't intend on wrapping entirely down both pipes. We'll see... if not I can get the SE wrap and spray it with the silicone spray and it'll all look the same enough.

Thanks for the advice Rift and Indian! I was probably going to make the dumb mistake of going front to back, Rift, so that's a good one. Indian, you got me worried I don't have a enough so I might order more and just sell off the rest or wrap my handlebars.
