V & H Straight Shot Slip-ons.

I want to fit slip-ons to my 2009 FXDC. Some say I have to have the Stage 1 tuning - fuel pack and different air intake and some say you don't. I don't need more performance just want nicer looking pipes and of course the soundtrack that comes with them. If I just fit the pipes only will this cause any problems to the way the bike runs or damage the engine?

Thanks

Mark,

*Can* you run them? Yes.... but they will, by nature, decrease backpressure, which inturn, slows exhaust velocity and will take away from midrange torque WITHOUT REMAPPING.

The bad part about that, is from the factory, you're lean in the midrange to begin with.

Can you run them without remapping? Yes.

Will you see performance gains? No.

Is it a good idea to run them without remapping? Not in my opinion.

Should you remap to get more then just a louder exhaust note and no other gains? Yes.

Should I wear white after labor day, although I shave my legs and have nice calves? No.

It's your call.

I have a question that sort of goes along the same line. What if he gets the pipes, heavy air breather and puts on the V & H fuelpak? I don't want this to get into a flame war about which calibration package is the best, ie fuelpak, race tuner, thundermaxx. Just curious if he puts on the pipes, air breather and adds a fuelpak and programs it accordingly. Do you guys think this is adequate or is he asking for engine problems that may even void his warranty?
