2 into 1 better?

Didn't want to hijack a thread, and couldn't find what I was looking for in a search.

Why is it that people consider 2 into 1 pipes better than two seperate pipes.

My 1980 low rider had 2 into 1 pipes, as did several of the bikes back then, and all anybody wanted to do was get rid of them and go to the staggered duals.

A 2-1 exhaust generally provides more torque then a 2-2 exhaust. Who makes it and how the bike is tuned will vary your results. Thunderheader is one of the highest numbered MFgers for just that...

LOL You'z guyz!!!

Thanks for the replies. I just found it kind of funny that that's the hot ticket now, when we were desperate to get rid of them when they came stock on the bikes.

Back in the day, when 2-1 pipes came on the superglides, was when everyone was going to drag pipes and having a bike "Dyno'd" was unheard of.

Louder was faster.
