Double them up if you're not getting enough circumference....

Moisture is a very big problem in wrapping pipes.

I recently changed the pipes on my '08 Nightster and installed the ceramic black SE slip-ons, and when I did so I wrapped my header pipes. Those little stainless steel tie wraps are absolutely useless! NO WAY can you get them tight enough to hold the wrap in place! Instead of using the stainless ties, I simply took four of the hose clamps off of the chrome header heat shields I had just removed and used them. Works great and looks good, too, since it compliments the "bobber" look of the bike! Just make sure when you mount them you do so with the screw on the inside of the pipe, slotted head up.

Still haven't figured out what to do with those stainless steel ties.....

Just an update: what I ended up doing is wrapping the headers, and reinstalling the Thunderheader heat shields over them. Now, shiny black SE wrap peeks out behind the black heat shields. It really looks great.
