Need a bit of info guys
I finally settled on Rush Slip-ons with 2" baffles for my heritage and I must say, I love em! The sound is just what I have been looking for, However, My bike is not as fond of them as me. I lost performance, Motor is much hotter and the decel popping is driving me nuts. The dealer I got them from said they would not require a re-flash and my warranty would remain intact. Oh yea, I guess I should mention its an 08 heritage. I will eventually get a Thundermax system but not until the warranty runs out. What I want to know is can I just do the stage 1 re-flash without the air cleaner? I just want to know what you guys think so I can call BS when the dealer try's to sell me the everything in the shop including the bathroom sink to fix this. Also, What should I expect to pay for the download? $$$ is tight right now as the little woman had a heart attack 2 weeks ago and now has no income so I really need to fix this as cheaply as possible hopefully without putting the stock pipes back on. (which I will do if I have to to protect my baby).
Let me know what you all think.
Thanks a million guys!!!
Steve

yes, a reflash will solve the issue, but don't be surprized when your dealer says they don't have one to match your pipes "only".......
The bike will probably run better then ever with the stage-1 reflash and no aftermarket aircleaner.

Thanks Dave
I suppose if the will only sell me the stage one with the air cleaner, Than I'll have to do it. I'll see what they say. I'm just worried that as hot as it is and the amount of popping, Its frying the pistons.
Thanks again!

Twinkies run lean in the modrange from the factory. A set of pipes with baffles and a stock aircleaner shouldn't send you to leans-ville, but depending on where you live (altitude) it could be a bad effect.
Decel popping can be caused by an exhaust leak, but hotter temps are definitely a sign of the bike running too lean.
I'd try to get the reflash even without the aircleaner, but they'll probably pull a few scare tactics, just to get you to spend more money there.....
A decent air cleaner with a washable element is about $150.

I do have a small leak on the top muff. I got some permatex Ultra copper to seal them both up good this weekend (which I learned from here ) but its the temp thats bothering me the most. I'm in vermont and its running way to hot being as the air temps are in the 70's. I'd hate to see what it would be like if it was in the 90's and 100's like it is in the south these days. If I have to I guess I'll just get the stage 1 kit with the air cleaner and put the stock back on after and see what it runs like. If its ok, Then I can just sell the se air cleaner at a swap meet. Who knows, Maybe they will just give me the re-flash and all will be good. The guys at the dealership are great most of the time but on occasion, They seem like they not the brightest bulbs in the box
Thanks again,
