Chirping sound

I just purchased a 1995 Ultra Classic, and the first time out on it, I noticed a chirping/whistling sound coming from the left exhaust. I thing they are the factory mufflers that are on the bike. Also seems to have a little intermittent cough at idle on the left side. I took a flashlight and looked up inside both mufflers, and the right muffler has a gold/tan colored piece of baffling, almost honeycombed shaped, installed at the far end, but the muffler on the left side does not have it. Could this be the cause of the noise I'm hearing, and the intermittent cough from the left exhaust. Maybe a difference in backpressure??? If so, can you purchase that missing piece for the muffler, or am I looking at a new set. I did a compression check on the engine when I got it home, and both cylinders are within a couple of lbs. of each other, so I don't think it's an internal problem. Any help appreciated.

The stock mufflers on my 07 RKC is baffled different for each side. That is normal. Mine also had a chirping noise that drove us crazy for a few months, turned out to be the mufflers hanger rubber isolator slipped out of the bracket and we had metal on metal. Slid it back in and the chirping stopped.
