i put a pair of V&H pipes (slip on part) that i got from my dad who has the same bike fxstc and ran it a while, sounded good but then i got the idea that i would take out the baffles and it sounds great but i was wondering what the down side to this could be to my scooter and i was wondering was the best solution would be if there is a problem ?

Slowed exhaust velocity and loss of backpressure is what it causes.

Lean running condition and less torque is the result.

i have been reading up on the thundermax in some of the other forums, is it worth the money and give you the same hp results as tuning and stage i air cleaner? just asking cause im on a budget and don't want to experiment, would rather hear it from people who know and aren't trying to sell me anything

Thundermax is not a replacement for an air cleaner..

When you change the pipes, you are letting more air out of your engine.

An upgraded air intake allows the engine to breath better and keep up with the exhaust. When you do this, the fuel to air ratio changes causing your bike to run "lean".

This is what the Thundermax does.. it decides how much fuel to send into the mix.

You can't change the exhaust and the air intake without recalibrating the ECU, either with a dealer flash, or an aftermarket product such as Tmax.

thanks for the info blackwell33 ......do you know what would be the difference in performance(hp and tq) be between the Tmax and a good air cleaner and the SERT and the same new air cleaner
