Checking in to gain more knowledge on my ride. I have a 2002 Heritage Springer. While riding yesterday on a PGR escort mission my ride stopped running. I pulled out of the procession to the side of the road and it would not start up again. It acted like the battery was dead... click, click. This is the same thing that happened about a month ago on another PGR mission. The HD folks replaced the battery then. This time the HD folks in Waco (after a 2 1/2 wait for a tow truck) said my battery is ok when recharged and that the stator was bad. I'd just like to have confirmation that this indeed could be the problem. The jury is still out on the regulator they said. Sorry for the long post.

I installed a two inch tank lift on my Dyna last night. The directions say that it is not necessary to replace the bottom cross hose on the 2" lift. However the hose is touching the frame and even though it is a fairly thick hose I am concerned with rubbing. I didn't get to start it up last night to see if or how much vibration there is cause they didn't send the longer vacume hose and I was too lazy to go to a part store last night. I am thinking that there will be little to no vibration and it should be fine, but am curious if anyone else who has done the tank lift has had issues with that hose rubbing.

This is from a contractor forum that I hang out at. Thought I would post it to remind people that they can be watched in this internet fishbowl. Probably nothing to worry about here, be careful elsewhere.

Warning: you are being watched.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am involved in a lawsuit. I will not go into details, but it's a tricky one, and now my insurance has taken over the case.

Yesterday out lawyers showed me a thick book(which was provided by the other side) with a transcript of every single post I've ever made on this forum, as well as every post I've ever made on my Mustang club forum. How they found them, I have no idea. What they hope to gain, I have no idea.
Our lawyers think that they think they will be able to prove that I'm rich and famous, and highly experienced, and therefore "should have known".

From now on I am going to be much more circumspect about what I say on these forums. Because of this, I have been advised not to give advice(which would portray me as experieced), and not to talk about any good sales, in fact, nothing that could in any way make me look like I know what I'm doing or that I'm successful.

I had no idea that this could even be done: finding my "identity", pulling all my posts, publishing them. I can't even claim invasion of privacy, as this is a public forum.

Just letting everyone know; apparently even our private discussions and musings can come under scrutuny and be used against us.

Beware!!

Dr. Hunt is a social and cultural anthropologist. He has had nearly

30 years experience in planning, conducting, and managing research in

the field of youth studies, and drug and alcohol research. Currently

Dr. Hunt is a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for

Scientific Analysis and the Principal Investigator on three National

Institutes on Health projects. He is also a writer for American

Thinker.

Subject: Another Failed Presidency

An article from American Thinker by Geoffrey P. Hunt

Barack Obama is on track to have the most spectacularly failed

presidency since Woodrow Wilson. In the modern era, we've seen

several failed presidencies--led by Jimmy Carter and LBJ. Failed

presidents have one strong common trait-- they are repudiated, in the

vernacular, spat out. Of course, LBJ wisely took the exit ramp early,

avoiding a shove into oncoming traffic by his own party. Richard

Nixon indeed resigned in disgrace, yet his reputation as a statesman

has been partially restored by his triumphant overture to China 20.

But, Barack Obama is failing. Failing big. Failing fast. And

failing everywhere: foreign policy, domestic initiatives, and most

importantly, in forging connections with the American people. The

incomparable Dorothy Rabinowitz in the Wall Street Journal put her

finger on it: He is failing because he has no understanding of the

American people, and may indeed loathe them. Fred Barnes of the Weekly

Standard says he is failing because he has lost control of his

message, and is overexposed. Clarice Feldman of American Thinker

produced a dispositive commentary showing that Obama is failing

because fundamentally he is neither smart nor articulate; his

intellectual dishonesty is conspicuous by its audacity and lack of

shame.

But, there is something more seriously wrong: How could a new

president riding in on a wave of unprecedented promise and goodwill

have forfeited his tenure and become a lame duck in six months? His

poll ratings are in free fall. In generic balloting, the Republicans

have now seized a five point advantage. This truly is unbelievable.

What's going on?

No narrative. Obama doesn't have a narrative. No, not a

narrative about himself. He has a self-narrative, much of it

fabricated, cleverly disguised or written by someone else. But this

self-narrative is isolated and doesn't connect with us. He doesn't

have an American narrative that draws upon the rest of us. All

successful presidents have a narrative about the American character

that intersects with their own where they display a command of history

and reveal an authenticity at the core of their personality that

resonates in a positive endearing way with the majority of Americans.

We admire those presidents whose narratives not only touch our own,

but who seem stronger, wiser, and smarter than we are. Presidents we

admire are aspirational peers, even those whose politics don't align

exactly with our own: Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Harry Truman, Ike, and

Reagan.

But not this president. It's not so much that he's a phony,

knows nothing about economics, and is historically illiterate and

woefully small minded for the size of the task--all contributory of

course. It's that he's not one of us. And whatever he is, his

profile is fuzzy and devoid of content, like a cardboard cutout made

from delaminated corrugated paper. Moreover, he doesn't command our

respect and is unable to appeal to our own common sense. His notions

of right and wrong are repugnant and how things work just don't add

up. They are not existential. His descriptions of the world we live in

don't make sense and don't correspond with our experience.

In the meantime, while we've been struggling to take a

measurement of this man, he's dissed just about every one of

us--financiers, energy producers, banks, insurance executives, police

officers, doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, post office

workers, and anybody else who has a non-green job. Expect Obama to

lament at his last press conference in 2012: "For those of you I

offended, I apologize. For those of you who were not offended, you

just didn't give me enough time; if only I'd had a second term, I

could have offended you too."

Mercifully, the Founders at the Constitutional Convention in

1787 devised a useful remedy for such a desperate state--staggered

terms for both houses of the legislature and the executive. An

equally abominable Congress can get voted out next year. With a new

Congress, there's always hope of legislative gridlock until we vote

for president again two short years after that.

Wonder whether the election results on the east coast are indicative

of Dr. Hunt's words coming true. If so, there is a ray of hope, is

there not? Perhaps even hope for "change" in the presidency.

I'm trying to deside whether to buy a Dyna Fat Bob or the Road King. I ride my bike daily, I live in Southern California so I can ride year round. My daily comute is 5 miles. I also ride in the back country on the weekends and ride with groups. My wife eventually wants to go two up. So I could afford a 2008 Fat Bob or an older RK with more miles. It's a matter of economics. I like both bikes. It seems that with such short distances the RK might be too much. But I like the ability to get on the road and take off for a while.
I'm hoping some of you will have had similar choices and have some great advise.
Thanks.

I need some help deciding on purchasing a Road King or Heritage. Plans with the bike is to: taking an occasional ride 70 miles to the beach with the wife, I live in south Georgia so the weather is very nice to ride except Dec. to Feb., love going to Daytona to the bike shows in March and October, My brother and Dad also ride and love going to the Gatlinburg Tenn area but they usually tow them there. I have riden both of them and can't seem to find alot of differences. If anyone has an opinion on both of these bikes, please let me know. Thanks, Rick
