I recently bought a 1997 Sportster 883 that has the 1200 kit. This is my first Harley and I really enjoy it. The bike had been in storage for several years and required a good amount of work to get it back in running shape. I took the wife for her first ride last weekend and she loved it. This could get expensive!

Checking in to gain more knowledge on my ride. I have a 2002 Heritage Springer. While riding yesterday on a PGR escort mission my ride stopped running. I pulled out of the procession to the side of the road and it would not start up again. It acted like the battery was dead... click, click. This is the same thing that happened about a month ago on another PGR mission. The HD folks replaced the battery then. This time the HD folks in Waco (after a 2 1/2 wait for a tow truck) said my battery is ok when recharged and that the stator was bad. I'd just like to have confirmation that this indeed could be the problem. The jury is still out on the regulator they said. Sorry for the long post.

Hello all, I'm new to the site and have found it to be very informing and very opinionated. I ride an 09 RKC and am looking forward to upgrading with pipes, exhaust, and air filter. I have already benifitted by reading some of your posted info. I ride in NH and was actually able to get out today, very unusual to be able to ride in NH in the middle of November (and enjoy it!!). I am also thinking about replacing my oil stick with an LCD readout. Can anyone tell me if they are really worth the money, Thanks.

Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a recently retired (medically) soldier, former medic, retired thanks to a sniper in Iraq. I live in the Ft Benning, GA area, and still work on Benning. got home from my last deployment in May, now settling down to life as a newly minted civilian. HUGE change! If anyone is in the Benning area and want to ride, look me up. I don't know many people here, especially who ride.
I'm also writing a military memorial book, dedicated to fallen service members, killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's a collection of memorial tattoos for the fallen, and I'm donating 100% of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that helps wounded vets transition to life after combat. Anyone interested in having their tats & stories added to the book, please contact me. Those guys & girls need to be recognized for their sacrifices.
Ride safe everyone.
