went to dealer for a rebuild kit for 1988 EGfront claper. but kit only had one piston and rubber, is the reason i explained only one pad was worn out on said side? just curious? thanks

My Brother has been riding for several years now and never gone down. Not even a close one! I always told him it's not if you go down but when.
Today was the when for him.
He was leaving a parking lot and as he pulled out rolling on the throttle a woman from an adjacent parking lot pulled out in front of him. On reflex he grabbed the front brake and said the second he squezzed the handle he was thinking: What did I just do? His front tire slid out from under him like it was rolling on ball bearings due to the light coating of sand built up from where cars turn into the lot.
He is fine with only some bruising but his baby (2010 Fat Bob) is a little dinged up and he is some kind of heart sick. He was on his way back to Camp Pendleton California and was very excited that he was going to take his bike back with him. His wife and kids live in San Antonio while he finishes up his 20 years with the Marine Corps. The bike is his retirement gift.
I share this so any new riders out there might understand you have to always be prepared and when riding your bike always think about what could happen IF...you gotta ride like every SOB out there wants to kill you....stay on your toes and stay aware.
He is heart sick to say the least.

I was wondering, where have you guys found found good deals on older Harleys? I am 18 on a low budget, didn't know, if I should start hanging out in the bars talkin with the old guys. Thanks for the help. I would love a knuckel head, but I know one of those is way out of my range, but didnt know about a pan or shovel. Thank you once again.

Well up here on the rock we are gonna be slammed by the hurricane spent all day boardin and moving stuff and a little more today as well not suppose to hit till tonite.

I might be off the air for a few depends on how hard we get hit its not suppose to be pretty.

Changed pads on front of EG last night,3 were most like new 3rd on pistoon side was to the metal. what would cause this? any suggestions. thanks

Just turned over two thousand miles and checked the gas mileage. I am getting 47 mpg I think that is good for a motor not broken in yet.

Handle bar controls

I have a 1994 softail, can I replace the handcontrols with the year 2000 I understand that problems with the brake being 5/8 make this not a good idea. so I was thinking can I change everthing except the brake and use the 1994 brake hand brake with the 2000 controls?

Any '81 FLT owners? I need help finding VIN

I can't seem to find the VIN on the frame.

I was told to look up by the frame neck and steering shaft area
on the right side.

I looked there and even removed the headlight to make sure it was
not stamped on front.

Nothing.

One FLT owner told me they didn't see anything there but had a sticker
on the right frame tube. I don't have that sticker either.

The abbreviated VIN is easily seen on the engine.

Any help would be appreciated.

The frame appears to have been repainted over the years. But I would
think I would still be able to see the vin.

Here are a few pics to show the areas I've looked.

Any thoughts or ideas on where else to look or what to do,
would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.
