I'm trying to deside whether to buy a Dyna Fat Bob or the Road King. I ride my bike daily, I live in Southern California so I can ride year round. My daily comute is 5 miles. I also ride in the back country on the weekends and ride with groups. My wife eventually wants to go two up. So I could afford a 2008 Fat Bob or an older RK with more miles. It's a matter of economics. I like both bikes. It seems that with such short distances the RK might be too much. But I like the ability to get on the road and take off for a while.
I'm hoping some of you will have had similar choices and have some great advise.
Thanks.

I just purchased a used 2000 Ultra-my first Harley- and it is equipped with and included headsets for the intercom/cb system. The Radio manual was not included and there is NO info in the owners manual. I have played with it enough to get the vox set and to check both headsets that they are working with intercom. My problem is not being able to hear radio or cb through the head set. Everything comes through the external speakers except intercom. I have found a radio manual on ebay and have bid, but anxious to play with this feature of my new toy! Anyone have advice for me?

so it starts like this i wanted to install saddle bag guard rails . simple enough right? wrong what should have taken 30 mintes tops becomes a 3 day marathon. well for starters the plastic piece between the saddle bag and fender is all one unit taht connects to the light at the bottom of the rear fender.this plastic piece makes the erails impossible to install and impossible to remove.out comes the dremell. and i discconect the rear tail light from the support structure.so after much cutting and fitting .i end up leaving the plastic piece in place with 3/4 quaters cut off to accomadate the rails. (pics to follow).here is the lovely part i cant find the antenna mounting bracket anywhere on the side r rails. you know why i didnt find it ? ill tell you "it doesnt exist" ..... so know i have to find a place to mount it im thinking jb weld zip ties cutting and welding the bracket of the other one. well out of luck the bracket that supports the saddlebag has a tiny hole in the bottom. it turns out its just the right size for the screw for the bracket to fit through. first i had to cut 1/2 the bottom of the bracket so it will fit ?no teh antenna is pointing almost perfectly straight back ? :faint.... i cant win did i miss something ? i guess i could remove the bracket palce it in a vice grip and hit with a hammer to give more of a bend . i just want to through a shout out to the forums and see if anything else is possible ! oh yeah the bottom plactic light that goes at the bottom of the rear fender its very sensitive mine cracked into 1 million tiny cracks stil works but looks like a modern piece of art .

No way does it fit. HD says to remove the lay down license plate bracket. I still don't see how it would fit. Any help would be appreciated. The mount I purchased was confirmed by HD as the proper mount part #53276-04. Ideas would be great!

Looking to do the S&S 106" big bore with the 551 cams w/ built in cr's. The cams are touring cams and will feed power in the rpm range I ride. I want mostly tg to carry the gears which I think are too wide spaced, especially 6th gear. I don't want to have to downshift out on the freeway from 6th just to pass someone.

It seems the 96" engine needs either to stay at 96" w/ cams or go above the 103" to get good numbers. I am not too impressed with the 103" numbers w/ 255 cams. If I don't go with the S&S cams I am thinking maybe HQ or Andrews. Any opinions?

Hi all,
I have been very happy with my 09 Road King. No problems and runs very well. Happens to be my third Harley. Upon a visit to the dealer the other day I happened to overhear the sales person talking about how Harley changed out the transmission in the 2010 bikes and it no longer has the straight cut gear. He went on to say that too many folks were complaining about the noise so the manufacturer changed it. First, is this true? And if it is, Can the gear set be changed out on my 09 to the unit in the 2010? And if so, has anyone done it and how much did it cost? That damn gear really sucks and I am frankly getting sick and tired of hearing it all the time.

I also wonder if they took any steps to stop the clanking from the gear set as well. As you add and remove torque by opening and closing the clutch it sounds as if two pieces of metal are slapping together. I have never heard this on any of my older bikes and frankly, it sucks too! I am at the point that if I find out it can be done I will pay whatever it costs to get it done.

Any thoughts? Anyone else fed up too?

Rear Speaker Trim Rings

I am looking for a decorative (and protective) ring for the rear speakers on an Ultra. Not part number 74584-99 that HD carries - that is the very common speaker trim kit that all of us have seen. But something larger, to cover the outer most edge of the speaker

In reality, I only need something for the left rear speaker - here is why. When I dismount, after lowering the jiffy stand, I place my left foot on the ground and swing my right leg across the bike, to the left side. Not every time, but more times than I will admit to, my right boot clips the left rear speaker housing. Now, it doesn't hit the inner most ring, where the HD chrome rim would mount, but the outer edge of the larger housing.

While we are at it, anyone have a link to billet styled front speaker rings?

Appreciation in advance!!
