Question Rev The Engine At Stops?

Ok I am new to this site. Im curious as to any of your comments. This is about revving your HD engine a few times at stoplites and/or long stops. Is it a good idea to frequently rev the engine to increase oil circulation and keep engine temps down? Some Ive talked to say it is a good idea, others arent sure. I cant seem to find any real authority conversation about this. So what do you guys think? THANK YOU!

No.

A$$holes flap their motors.

Oil circulation is low pressure anyway, and increasing revs at a standstill increases heat so that argument is total bullshit as well.

I apologize for my attitude. I was born with it.

Generally speaking, you don't die on motorcycles.

You die a few yards away from what's left of them.

Yes, I have had two bottles of wine. What the fukk is your problem

The higher the rpm's the more heat that is built. If your air cooled engine is sitting in traffic with no air flow, bliping the throttle just heats the engine up. If your not moving there is no reason to create extra heat. They also can go into an overheat mode (07 newer I believe) or in the case of the tour bikes that have a parade mode that shuts down the back cylinder. Any blipping of the throttle causes these safety/heat functons to stop cooling the bike. If i have read correctly my 07 will go to open loop at high temp and then to about 13.2 ish on the a/f mixture. The idle will drop and it sounds great. I have noticed this the most after a hot soak of 5-10 min after riding in traffic stop and go.

I blip the throttle because my horn fell off. It's effective, actually

I'd stop blipping my throttle if I knew where the idle screw was...........

No reason for it, I cannot stand it when people do that, as if you cannot hear them but to have to sit beside some people and hear them blasting in yor ear over and over again sucks.

Yeah, awhile back it would help keep the struggling carbed engine going for those with ultra low idle rpms. Nowadays for many with FI it is, "I wanna hear my bike, and I want those nearby to hear it as well". For the majority in earshot it scores no points.
