Right turn

I feel stupid even asking this question, I just started riding again after 30 years, I am 54. I feel like an idiot but I am having trouble turning right after a stop. I can't stay in my lane lane unless I kreep around the corner. Any tips will be apreciated. My son is calling me rightie, he jokes with me about maping out a route to ride with only left turns! Thanks, Mark

Hi rightie
I'm new as well, and I'm facing exactly the same problem.
Thanks for the post

It just take's practice. Find an empty parking lot and practice practice practice. I would also suggest a riders course. One of the best things you can do. Then practice again.

According to the video's "Ride Like A Pro" they say look where you are turning to as you turn. The bike wil follow accordingly. It works, try it.

Don't feel bad. After being on sport bikes for the last 15 or so years, I feel like I'm learning to ride all over again. Figure the bike I purchased, ( 97 Fatboy ) is about double the weight of my prior bikes.

Just think, this gives you a reason to ride more. Just keep trying until you get it right.

Slowly release the clutch and give very gradual throttle walk it around, it will come to you also what facn8me said.

mailman, I have attended the course. It's really useful. It helps you to focus on your weaknesses and to find a way to beat them.

Yes, I'm still facing difficulties, but I'm a way better now
Take the course...

also since it's been said I'll say it again since I forgot. Look where you want to go. The bike goes where your looking. Pick a spot ahead of your turn. And aim for it then look further ahead again. When I was learning to drag the boards and do figure eights I had to learn to look over my shoulder where I wanted to go.

Whether making right or left turns from a stop or making right or left winding road twisties, LOOK WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND YOU WILL GO WHERE YOU ARE LOOKING. It just takes a little time to learn to trust it, but you will see that it does work every time. Just a quick caution, dont look at on-coming traffic or at the ditch on your left
