Lower idle by turning screw.
If it's set at 1000...or was......then it's something else causing it to go to 1500.
Check and make sure enrichment tab is pressed all the way down.
Intake gasket leak at head(s).
Carb base gasket leak at manifold.
If you rev the engine, does the idle come down slowly?
If so....classis lean/intake leak.
