Which Breather?

Hey guys.

ive been searching the forum and not finding to much on breathers. all i really found was problems and stuff on the HD SE breather.
Im just wondering what people prefer for a breather setup because this is one of my many projects coming up. Im mostly trying to decide wether or not i want a breather that vents directs to the air. or one of the many nice setups were the air cleaner bracket has alleys in it which vent into the intake therefor eleminating any breather lines

I've had most of them.

I prefer the Forcewinder Style like i have now (SE makes one like it, the Heavy Breather) with the elbow and the cone shaped K&N filter, because it gives me more leg room. My leg constantly rubbed the stock canister. Now it fits under the elbow of the filtering unit.

The vent lines don't bother me. You can drill the elbow and run the vent line right back into the carb if you want.

I do prefer Arlen Ness' Big Sucker design where it vents into the venturi via the housing casting, and not like SE's model, where there's the two rubber hoses that slip onto the head vent bolts, and direct vapors into the venturi that way. Kinda cheap, IMHO. SE's blue colored filter media doesn't last that long wither before it starts getting "thin". My neighbor's took a crap in less then 3.5 years.

Dyno testing has shown that 1-2 HP gains could be seen on certain engines with not reventing crankcase fumes back through the intake system. It's really done as a pollution control issue, more then anything.

Venting to the atmosphere is just that. Only problem with that, is condensation containing oil, and oil itself, also vent to the atmosphere, (ground) and I'm not a fan of that, which is why mine's vented to a "catch can".

Another set up that I have has a crossover tube from one head vent to another, with the vent tube just going into the backing plate that holds the K&N filter.

Stock is plastic and thick and stuffy. Not sure where that one came from, or who makes it.
