Thundermax EFI

Does anyone have any personal experiance using the Thundermax EFI unit? I have looked into the Harley race tuner, Power commander with auto tune and the Vance & Hines fuel pack. The power commander, race tuner & fuel pack in my opinion all have cons to them. I am very impressed with the thundermax unit. I like how the unit is all its own and you replace the HD stuff. I have seen all the videos on Youtube. This system looks to be very user friendly and upgradeable as the mods keep coming. This winter I am adding Vance & Hines Big shots, Harley stage 1 air cleaner and quite possibly the thundermax unit. Future upgrades include stage 3 103cu in. upgrade. My ultimate goal is to make enough power to break the rear tire loose on demand. I plan on doing as much of the work as possible. I am a freak about someone other than me working on my stuff. As for the Thundermax how good are the built in diagnostics? This system sounds like its going to be the last EFI unit I will need to buy. I am right about this assumtion? Thanks

Gordon

" Replaces the HD ecm " ... also nulls any remaining HD warranty you have left ! HD Race Tuner and warranty stays intact ! Just sayin' .

I have a 1995 electra glide changed out to the thunder max at Sturgis this year had to as the Harley shops don't have the equipment to work on as old of a bike I have. I'm every happy with the thunder max I can carry a small e pc laptop and tune or diagnosis the bike myself. Had to replace the ecm and the induction system on my bike due to it having the old magnelli injection system. I also have the auto tune which requires o2 sensors.
The people at Thunder max are good to deal with I think you will like their product. I sure do!
It's like I have a new bike runs great!

Thanks Norman I really appricate your input. I am very impressed with the thundermax unit enough to buy and install it. I feel comfortable enough to install it on my own and if I get stuck on something I can call Thundermax and have them walk me through any problem that may come up. I am going to give them a call in the near future and pick there brain for somemore info that I am looking for. I really want to know how to use the software to help diagnose any drivablity problems and how it works with the check engine lamp on the bike. Thanks everyone.

Gordon.

The local independent shop swears by the V&H tuner. They said that they get great service from V&H if there is a map issue. It has also been the most successful tuner that they have installed.

I think a lot depends on whether the tuner vendor has a good map for your bike and its mods.

I have a TM with auto tune on my 2008 custom. They really are exceptional and once familiar with the software, are easy to use. You can make broad ranging idle rpm, rev. limiter, AFR and timing modifications. You don't need to dyno your bike but saying that a dyno is a great tool to get exactly what you want and can never be ruled out completely. This system auto tunes to your riding style.
I have not had my bike on a dyno with the TM and at this stage don't intend to.
