Stage 1 Upgrade...

Okay...adjusting to the new ride (new to me anyway) and it is getting to be time for dressing it up. Since I know next to nothing about these things I am looking for recommendations.

Going to do a stage 1 upgrade, and lose the stock pipes. My yamaha had cobras on it and I liked the sound. Who do I look to for upgrades for stage 1 and pipes? Who do I stay away from?

Depends on what bike you have. I would go with a stage 1 air cleaner kit, slip ons and a tuner if EFI bike all you can do yourself.

Sorry...08 Softail heritage classic. I work in corvette restoration and am building a camaro. In both cases there are vendors and brands you use, and others you just plain stay away from....Not sure if I can do this myself or not...guess we shall see...

Okay...back at this upgrade...still unsure of air cleaner assembly, mostly because of the difference between carb and FI. (Mine is FI) Anything I have looked has has not really specified which one it is for.

Yeah I know...girly questions...sorry guys, but I'd rather do it right the first time.

Everything in '08 is Fuel Injected....

So, just so long as it says it will fit your year bike and model, you're good to go.

It is easy, very as a matter of fact and for someone who does Corvette restorations you should have zero problems............unless your the guy that answers the phones and orders parts than in that case, well its still really easy.

2008 started a completely different mouting pattern for the aircleaners at the throttlebody. The only thing that will fit a 2008, is 2008-up.

With the pipes, if running your O2 sensors, the only thing that will fit is 2007-2009. In 2010, the O2 sensors went from 18mm bungs to 12mm bungs.

Not changing pipes, using slip on mufflers, and yes, I'm the gal that orders your parts. However I am mechanically inclined so I think I can do this. Do I need to replace the entire air cleaner assembly or just the backing plate?
