Fuel leaking from gas cap

When I fill my bike to what I think is full but not too full and start it, fuel leaks out of the gas cap. I now have to underfill to prevent this from happening. '09 Heritage, by the way. Any thoughts?

Is this a new bike for you, or have you had this bike and this is a new problem? Sounds like your just putting to much gas in it. Put the gas pump nozzle into the tank and when the pump shuts off thats it dont put anymore. Gas should not be above the cup inder the gas cap.

Is it one of the models with the cap/thread recall by chance?

First they came for the Doberman Pinschers and I did not speak out because I did not have a Doberman.
Then they came for the German Shepherds and I did not speak out because I did not have a German Shepherd.
Then they came for the Rottweilers and I did not speak out because I did not have a Rottweiler.
Then they came for mine and there was no one left to speak out for me.

If they go after my Chihuahua they're in for a suprise that little Mexican bitch is going to fight.

Or the vent line is plugged or kinked and the tank is trying to vent past the cap.

I had the same issue with my 08 Heritage.
I replaced the caps with the flush mount.

Took my bike in on Saturday for a neck bearing adjustment because of that annoying wobble. Anywho, they said there was a recall on the filler neck. It was causing the cap to ratchet prematurely, though it wasn't seated. I haven't put gas in it yet but it sounds like good news.
