Leak at the tank

Well, my ride is a 97 Ultra Classic with some 62K miles on it and it was a basket case when I bought it last summer. Didn't expect it to be such a mess, but anyways, it was never really taken care of over the past few years.
This last couple days my ride developed a leak at the high pressure fuel lines, at the tank. After realizing that I lost nearly a 3rd of my fuel in the matter of less then an hour, it was time to fix the problem. So I drained the tank and ripped everything off and out of the way. Removed the fuel lines and found the fittings to be very loose fitting on the lines.
After reviewing the book, it shows the fittings are pressed onto the lines and were a seperate part. The local HD shop had a different story all together. Seams the parts are only sold as a new replacement assembly, hose and threaded fitting. I was not ready to dish out $115 for such a deal.

I then found myself spliting the fitting and thusly gained access to the internal parts of the threaded bunger fitting. A quick trip to the ACE store, $0.75 later, I was replacing the high pressure fuel lines back into place and the test run was perfact. NO LEAKS.

So if any of you develope a leak on your lines from the tank, save some money and get some new O-rings and use the $115 for something else.
