can you tell me how to adjust my carb

Hi I have a 1995 softail heritage and the carb would need to be adjusted I taugh its was ok but its back to the same wich is runs to rich the spark plugs are black and always need to replaced them so I was wondering if I can adjust myself my son is a mechanic for cars but he says he might be able to but would need some tips or you think maybe I shoul bring the bike in really appreciate any help out there .....thanks to all and good riding to all bye bye

I'm not sure what the 95 softails have for a carb but if it's a khien(sp) CV carb there is a small brass plug behind the float bowl under the carb. This plug will need to be drilled or popped out underneath there is a small mixture screw. Turn in to lean out mixture and out (counterclockwise) to richen. If it's really rich I is oils go half turn then ride it a while to get it at normal temp. Check the plugs and go another half turn if you have to. You may need to take the carb off to remove the plug
