GAS TANK-E-Glide-

The fuel gage on my '01 E-Glide has become somewhat "messed up". I believe it to be in the gas tank (sending unit) or the like causing the problem.
I can remove the tank dash and get to a rather large coverplate that gains access into the tank. I am sure it is gasketted. If I remove this cover plate, and somehow remove the plate without hurting the gasket. I am hoping to investigate the inside of the tank then reinstall the plate ...long story short....

Does this plate gasket use any sealer? Don't want any gas running down the tank.

No sealer and I've reused mine. Just make sure the bolts are evenly tightened. They seal pretty well.

You may also want to run the tank as dry as you can before starting the project. It will make it easier avoiding spilt gas. Be patient and carful removing the unit from the tank, fuel pump, sending unit and filter all come out as single piece and it is easy to bend the float arm. It will take a few creative menuevers to get everything through the opening. Good Luck.
