I did Dave's carb Mods this AM
First, thanks Dave for the sweet pics and description of carb rebuild.
So this am I pullled the air cleaner cover and backplate off my bike.
I removed the venturi cover, and pulled the slide and etc. out.
I turned the a/f screw in while counting the turns, then turned it back out to 2 1/2 plus just a little.
then I enlarged the vacuum hole in the slide (for throttle response)
then i found a suitable washer and shimmed the needle up away fron the jet. (had to shim cuz its not the adjustable kind)
The result? low end from a stop is slightly quicker. The throttle response is sharp and MUCH faster. But the biggest plus is this, The bike goes over 100 now. Before I had to push it hard to get past 90.
today when i got just over 100 i let off. (the front end shakes over 90, and i thought i might die)
All of this without removing the carb!!!!
So, if you have the skills, you can get better response, more overall power and the peace of mind knowing the bike isnt too damn lean, all for FREE! (well just an hour of your weekend)
I recomend this to all riders who are capable of doing this confidently.
THANKS DAVE!
