cruiser for big guy

I am new and was considering my first bike. I know Im better off buying a used bike to get going but here is the the twist: I am 6'2 360 lbs. I am looking for a goos first bike option. I always hear that you should start small but considering that I am a big guy and I live in colorado what bike should I start with? I dont know the GVWR for all the HD models but I dont know what else to consider. It will be mostly me so I don't really care much for addt'l capacity for a passenger. Thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated!!!!

Having never ridden a motorcycle before you'd be taking a big risk to learn on an expensive machine but hey its your money. Being as your 6'2 go to a dealership and ask to set on a few and see how you feel. Hard to say. The softails give you a low to the ground ride and big enough for big riders like you. The FL line is as well for the stout but I am 5'7 and hold my own on one. On a day off go do some home work for yourself and have a salesman take you around.

Also... I highly recommend the "Ride Like a Pro" DVD instructional! (Google it)
Especially if you're that new... it'll prevent you developing any bad or dangerous habits.
Also show you how to right a dumped big twin.

Useful stuff.

Im gunna go w/ a Road King..It's versitile, big, sporty, bagger w/ a front end that allows a windshield or fairing for those cooler days/eves & remove easy for those Hot summer days....I love mine..reason Im suggesting this bike is because my pops is about 60lbs lighter, but same height. He had the Fatboy, he was squashed a little tight, even with highway pegs...Then he went to the King, threw on highway pegs, he had found his bike. He now has an Ultra, but just giving you something to think about because of similiar size. Like most will say, sit on the bikes, go for a test ride & go from there.....Good luck

yeah Im going to be doing lots of newbie stuff (videos, courses etc)but it doesn't hurt to start my research. I just know that with my size there are lots of models that wont work for me and I would like to eliminate them from my list off the bat and start looking at some with different characteristics that will work for my size.

You should start on a used bike cause if you aint never rode its a given you ll drop a bike 2 or 3 times your first year. I dontmean to scare you I mean you ll do it almost always stoppin and startin till you learn.Id advise you to buy a 3-4k Honda 750 to learn on there easy to sell back.Again Sir dont buy a New Bike.

Good advice but if you feel the need to get an HD, RoadKing would be a good choice.

Well balanced and extremely comfortable.

would a 750 not be too small for my body mass and weight? sorry did not mean to go off hd topic. I was going to get some lessons on rentals that they have here in colorado. Also if I get a HD I will most likely get a used one.

Not really, to learn on it ll be just fine, Honda also makes a 1100cc on the same bike both are inexpensive used bikes. Only reason I dont suggest a Sporty to learn on is cost. you can find a good Jap bike for 3000$ with 3-5k miles on it an 02-06, you cant do that with a Sporty.
750 honda carry 350 just fine. Ive owned them. But remember once you learn, get a Harley, its two differant worlds.
