Disappointing Ride

So, I get a call from a guy at work wanting to go for a nice fall Sunday ride. I'm always up for a ride, so off we go. After about 35 miles or so we stop to grab a drink and a snack while we try to map out our general direction.

I'm standing there and see quite a bit of black specs on the upper belt guard. Upon further inspection it's rubber and upon even further inspection it's from my rear tire rubbing the inside of the fender. Looking at the bike from the back, you can see the fender is sitting wrong, there's plenty of clearance from the tire on the left side, but none on the right. I took my wife for a ride Friday, so something may have happened then, I don't know.

We headed on back home and I'll call the dealership tomorrow to see what they say. You can see on the tire where it has rubbed, it's not digging into it bad, but enough.

I just wanted to share my disappointing ride today. I was really looking forward to a nice ride on a cool fall day. But at least I saw it before going any further and it didn't bust the tire on me or anything. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

That sux, but better you found it like you did, instead of at 60 mph on a turn!

It was a good day!

Yeah, when I had my 1996 Electra Glide, me and my wife went on a benefit ride and decided to leave early due to all the drinking that was going on while we were riding, on the way home my rear tire blew, both of us not wearing a helmet and on a road that is supposed to be 40mph, and is usually 60mph, scared the living hell out of me, felt the rear end going all over the road made my a$$ pucker up, thank God I was able to keep it shiny side up, so consider yourself very lucky, now I always check my bike before it leaves the garage.

Yeah, I felt lucky for seeing it before anything happened. I usually try to do a once over on everything before heading out. This was a spur of the moment ride and I just hopped on and headed out. I know I will be sure to make my rounds from now on. 5 minutes spent going over the bike before a ride could save a lot of things from happening.
