HD sales drop 84%
Buell Motorcycles to be Discontinued and MV Agusta Sold Off as Harley Davidson Income Falls
by PAUL CROWE - "THE KNEESLIDER" on 10/15/2009
Harley Davidson’s earnings just came in and third-quarter net income dropped 84%.
The company plans to discontinue its Buell product line and sell its MV Agusta unit, essentially exiting the sport bike market.
======================================
There's gonna be some gashing of teeth and panic at HD. Wonder what other products will be dropped in the near future and changes to their model line for the next model year?

Well, here in Canada, we do have a conservative government. We're not perfect by any means but we did not have any banks crash, our housing market has just experienced the largest growth in recent Canadian history (this month's figures) and we are expected to grow by 2.5% GDP this year. Our dollar, now at 97.5 US, is expected to surpass the US dollar in the next few months and as a nation of oil and gas exports with the second largest oil reserves on earth we're not doing badly. Thankfully we did not follow Obama economics.

Slide over Gruss.. hope you like to cuddle. I'm comin too..
hopefully we can just hit rock bottom soon and then we can get a fresh start.. I guess. I'm so confused on this mess that I can't make any sense out of it. It makes it even harder when every damn body just lies about how many jobs have been created, when the recession is over, etc.
Why can't we just hear the truth?
Hopefully HD is just playing things safe right now.. they may reduce sales for a few years and make cut backs, but they have made it over a hundred years and through wars and the last depression.. maybe they are just ramping up for what is to come so they can get through it.

hard to say, were seeing a whole new set of economic strategies, money diversifications, and scores of clever tricks that buisness uses to stay afloat....and these pratices used today, are tied to a whole new financial strategy.
these systems did not exist 100 years ago...it was the simple math that prevailed. now its a new ball game...i think their trapped, and doing whatever it takes to stay alive....if that 84% is real, they have problems, in a big way...IMHO

I thought the article I saw yesterday said overall sales at Harley dropped 21%, could be wrong though.
