"Fogging oil" is a thin, but high film-strength rated oil that's sprayed in the intake of the vehicle, as you turn the engine over, with the igniton OFF, to be sucked into the intake and cylinders, coating them, protecting them from elements and corrosives.

It's sold by various companies, like Amsoil, Stabil, etc.

I've only ever seen it used in Airplane engines, where the plane sits over a winter, outside in a field, Marine applications (corrosive salt water) and in Nitro powered RC cars, as Nitro is corrosive by nature and Ph increases after being burned.

Dave, I agree that running a stored bike once in a while is bad as you said. That condensation will screw things up fast. And your point about fogging oil not being needed is well taken. I guess living near salt water and having had to winterize boats is why I say that. So, yeah, try to ride it all year if the weather permits. Living in the Northeast it's hard, but I try to get it out at least once a month for a ride.

Fogging spray is for cylinder lubrication during storage. I use it in my boat engine, ect.. for winterization

You can buy fogging oil at a boat dealer. To winterize an outboard you spray fogging oil in until it quits running--then the cylinders are coated and ready to sit out the winter. Come spring you start it up and it will smoke like hell until you burn off all the fogging oil. And I always cleaned my plugs after de-fogging.
