How many times have you scared yourself on a bike?

just that, how many times have you went into a turn to hot or locked the back tire up by accident, you know done something and shouldn't have or because if inexperience.

i have a few occasions that stand out.but just a month or so ago i was following a friend he is 72yr old and on a 05 heritage, i'm on my vrod coming down hwy 18 in wilkes county nc. hes dragging the floorboards and i'm tellin' myself if THAT bike will take THAT turn at THAT mph, well mine will too, and it did, but i had to go where i had never gone before to do it! i was commited to the turn so there was no backing out, and trusting in my skill and them avons , would i do it intentionally again, probably not. i never been a big fan of leaning one over to far, i'm to scared.
at one point he actually drug the frame on the left side and i see the back tire leave the ground, move over a little and he just hopped and kept right on going, never phased the fellow!i've seen this guy take a bagger where baggers shouldn't go, we got down the mountian and stopped, he asked how did i like them apples, i replied. "them was mighty ripe"

i'm going ridding with this cat in a few hours and i just had that on my mind and thought i would share

I am VERY disinclined to try anything that has that

"..just to see if I can make it.." edge to it.

Don't like the odds, or the cost, and I got nothing to prove.

Just ain't worth it to me.

I prefer to think of my riding more as a personal, one man parade.

Well lets see here. I have made a few mistakes that kind of made me nervous but I dont like to use the word scared because it might tend to make me want to quit. That aint gonna happen.

In Laconia this summer, I rode up a steep, muddy hill on both my bike and then my friend's bagger......while being towed with a rope and a 4x4 pick-up truck at the same time...... that was pretty wild. I was more afraid of something happening and not being able to get 500 miles home then, just damaging the bikes.

I've calmed down a lot. When I owned sportbikes, that was different. I ride different on a cruiser. On the sportbikes, I was either at the track, or doing 80 mph on the road, cause anything slower was just boring.

I've learned to like "boring" now, and just enjoy the scenery.

First time I did a wheelie on a sportbike when I didn't mean too...in the first few weeks of riding..."Why am I looking at the clouds...where is the road????"

Can't remember the rest...

My "favorite" is when you're doing about 60 coming into a curve posted for 40 and just when you get into the curve you see a big patch of gravel! Really tests your manhood!

Whilst riding to Tortilla flat on a rented 09 Roadking this past week I had an anxious moment or two not being quite sure if i was gonna make the corner or not but should have had more faith in my ability cos the bike made it no problem.. An old school biker once said to me " A Motorcycle is capable of any manouver, it is only limited by the skill level of the rider".

I quite enjoy scraping the pipes on right turns & my boot on left turns when I'm on my Softail, but scraping the floor boards on my SG is a tad disconcerting..might have something to do with the 20+ grand it cost me
