Got to tell ya!

rode the new scoot today for approx.160 miles with the wife. To me this '10 ultra seems to run better than the electra glide that I traded in. It seems to have more power and a faster response time with the throttle. The Ultra seems to ride better, with less effort to control in slower speeds like in town.

One thing I did notice is the whinning of the fifth gear in the '09 has been removed on the '10. This was a used bike with 300 miles on it when i got it. The previous owner put a "REACH" seat on it and didnot like the bike and traded it for a FATBOY. This reach seat is a piece of junk as far as I am concerned. I put the stock seat on it and the ride is so much more comfortable.

All in all, i am truly impressed with the '10 ultra classic. The bike seems better all around than the Electra glide classic. This is my opinion, other ultra riders need to respond and let us know your thoughts.

Jim

Correct. The straight cut 5th gear was replaced with a helical cut gear, which makes no noise.

I'm hanging with my 1998 and 2001 Ultra for now. '98 EVO and '01 twinkie motor. Both 5 speed 5 gallon tank. Good enough for now but I ain't gonna lie I wish I could have a 2010 with 96" motor,6 speeds and 6 gallon tank. Does the '10 set any lower? At 5'7 the reach seat put me better in the saddle.

Good for you and many miles and memories.

The 2010 Ultra does sit a little lower. With the reach seat that you can get, it does lower the rider quite a bit. With the 09 electra glide I had to put on the low profile shocks on the rear to give me better control of the bike when stopping, sitting, etc because my feet reached the ground better. With the 2010 ultra, my knees have more of a bend to them with the same seat off the 09. The '10 ultra is definately the way to go as far as I am concerned.
