Smile My dilema.

Ok so here it is.

I want a Harley. I have time to get something nice, but only have a $5,000 budget. I can NOT fit on a sportster, I am 6'6". I live in Daytona FL and need to sell my old bike first.

Any tips, tricks, hints, help, advice, or words of wisdom are appreciated. I do have a friend to take with me to look and listen to the bikes who fixes his own bikes an 80's chopper and 06 dyna.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Any tips on how dynas are or a good starter bikes. Like I've posted before. This would be my first Harley.

Also, prices down here I'm Daytona are always inflated. Just go to craigslist Daytona and look. There are a few good deals, but dynas in my price range are 90's and 80's.

I am in Grand Junction Colorado and I have seen 3 electraglide classics (EVO) that are for sale at 5500.00. Went and looked just for the hell of it they were in really good condition if I had the spare cash would have bought them! Just keep looking you will find what you want.

Axe... Yep, keep lookin. You will find a 1990's H-D just right for you. I'm a hair under 6'5" and can fit on just about anything. Don't rule out anything, and with H-D's massive after market, you can probably modify cheaply a bike you like to fit you. A 1990's Dyna Wide Glide with its stretched out ergos and controls could be what you are looking for.

With only 5 grand you may need to spend some of that on gas and drive a way to find a good deal. I got my 02 Wide Glide for $8500 so figure you should be able to get a late 90's dyna close to what you have to spend. 99 was the first year for the TC, Evo before that. Search Craigslist for 500 miles around and see what comes up. If you really only have that much to spend you may need to go to a colder climate to snag a good one.

Ebay had quite a few decent bikes when I was looking and also if you can do without seeing it, shipping a bike isn't that much. There is a place near Green Bay Wisconsin that has decent bikes that may be salvaged titles but their fixed up. Good reviews and decent people. Not close to you but shipping price isn't bad. The place was something Euhardy's or something like that.

I lucked out on an '06 dyna for $5500. With ext warranty and less than 1k miles. Guy was askin $7400 and I lowballed. He took the offer without hesitation. Take your time and look around. Try independent shops. Some take consignment bikes. That is where I found mine and how I sold the other bike I had. Good luck and if I see anything locally I'll let you know.
