Tearing her down to build her up...your welcome misinlink

I have slowly been removing chrome over the last year and have been waiting for this winter for the final push and am taking off the sheet metal and oil tank for new paint.

Here is how she started

Here is how she looked before the final push

And a shot of her very bare ass yesterday. Oh yeah she is getting new shoes as well.

I use the marine lower unit grease on them, seems to do a decent job against pressure washer infiltration.

Marine is almost if not worse than saying HD...

But you shouldn't be pressure washing bearings anyway.

Boat or HD things you pour money into.

I have found when pressure washing just the flaah across the faces will lead to water intrusion.

Especially neck bearings and that swing arm.

My brother has a boat like yours and a Harley. I think both diseases run anount the same in chewing through funds.

He hates floating ropes in the ocean. He is a diver so he handles it himself. But it still pissses him off when the props wrap up.

Got the rest of the sheet metal off. Time to prep for paint. I bought new fenders because the old ones had some mild damage from previous owner. I did not buy new tanks so I will strip and paint these ones.

I still am considering getting new tanks so I can sell the other set as a full paint set. Not sure yet.

I will be painting all the sheet metal, oil tank and front lower sliders.

I think after this I will be done playing with this bike and working on saving for the next one.

Forgot. I am going to paint the Bullet fairing as well. Had initially considered leaving it black.
