Congratulations! My son started riding a few years ago and he is my favorite riding buddy.

Update?

I would appreciate hearing how your MSP class went. I went through the intermediate class a few years ago and found it to be very helpful. My son in law went through the class when he first started riding. A very wise decision.

What did you learn and what did you find to be most helpful?

Basic riding course for both us as we are new riders. We did the first of two nights of classroom instruction and the first of three range days. Plenty of safety info to absorb but the range part was great for an older guy like me. Looking forward to the next outing. I came home and took my own bike out to practice what I learned on the range.

This is one of the best (IMHO) ways to get your kid to grow up right. Both take the MSF class, get a couple of like minded bikes, One for the son and (I presume you already have one) and go riding, camping, what have you. I got my kid a Street 750, easy on the wallet, and even if it was made in India it's still a Harley Davidson. Surprised him with it on his 16th Birthday. Took the course over the weekend, we were riding Monday.

It's been a year now and all is still good.

My son is almost 23, and though he has only been riding for about two months, he is pretty good at it. Ah, youth. I am 56, so it is a little tougher for me but I am getting it. We both have new 883s.

Second weekend complete. Classroom lessons are complete. Another fun day of riding instruction - engine braking, swerving, shifting, quick stops, u-turns and tight turns.

Next Saturday will be a few more range lessons and the skills test. If we do it right, we'll be coming home with our motorcycle licenses.

Congratulations on another day completed. I trust you are enjoying the class and learning some great safety instruction for riding. Let us know how next Saturday goes for you. We look forward to hearing that both of you got your licenses.

Do you ride your own bikes or the bikes provided?
