i've sold a dozen or so things here and on another forum. like the O.P. I've gone ahead and shipped many things out 'payment pending' with the thought being that i could trust a fellow HD enthusiast.
As of today, I have never been stiffed but jagoffs like the OP encountered make me wonder if i should re-think my selling process.
i hope it turns out that there is a legitimate reason for the delay in sending the payment and it all gets resolved.

Keep the faith folks... I have had a few dealings and they all have been smooth.
Use your judgement just like any other transaction.
If you are leery, and you should be of low post counts. Get you money upfront.
Paypal is almost instant.
Same goes for buying. 30/30 helps keep most fly by nighters out, but some will endure the process. Do your best to protect yourself. Paypal has a resolution center.
People often don't want to pay a fee, but it is a small price to pay to improve the odds.

Definitely too bad to read about the people not living up to their agreements. I still have some faith in most of humanity but stories like this make me just a little more cautious.
I've got to think that most Harley riders in this forum are more honest than just the regular Joe Blow. Not sure why I think that, but it's just a gut feeling. But it's hard to sift through the posers masquerading on this forum. Those are the ones ruining it for the rest of us.

I was gifted with this piece of insight years ago:
Trust is not the confidence in someone else that they will do as they say they will do. Trust is the confidence in yourself that you can weather the circumstances when they do not.
I personally would rather offer trust just as I would expect to be offered, and if I take one on the chin every once in a while, that's the way it goes.
That said, I probably won't be signing the title on my scoot over to any of you guys pending payment!!

I would be leery of the PayPal 'Resolution Center'.
I did a purchase on e-bay and in a couple of days they told me the seller was under investigation and they are going to cancel the transaction and that I should go through the PayPal process to get a refund.
I did, and they wanted proof upon proof, which I provided (mind you, e-bay reached out to me!). PayPal told me they would share any information I provided to Pay Pal with the crooked seller. Strange. Anyway, I did everything they asked and they found in my favor, BUT, I had to fill out a local police report, which I did. Then they wanted the police report and, oh ya, they would share that with the seller!
What!!?? No way was I providing personal information that is found on a police report with a thief. The loss was small compared to releasing personal information. Pay Pal also said they would not modify the police report in any way after I asked certain information to be 'blacked out'.
I wouldn't trust Pay Pal, at all....The 'Resolution Center' is not always to protect you.
There, I feel better now.....

If it is handled like a business deal which it is, you shouldn't have any problems.

Guys,
I say this for all time: It doesn't matter what you are talking about be it Amatuer Radio, Harley's, computers, or whatever. There are always those out there that will just screw you over. Gotta watch your back and accept the fact that sometimes the fish just slips through the net.
