Pretty lively discussion on this topic.. I'm just throwing in my .02.. again. Every time I get on that bike, I assume I have no right of way, or I own any lane. My objective is to stay alive and complain about the azzhat that pulled the stunt. If the moron on the cell phone is not paying attention and pulls out, its my bad for not seeing it. Right of way at a 4 way stop.... doesn't exist. If someone sneaks up behind me.. still my bad. 9 times out of ten if you choose to get into a whizzing match on a bike I can tell ya flat out your gonna loose. Okay I'll return ya to your regularly scheduled thread, off my soapbox now.

LEO will use the video to try and get somebody to confess, and for most people it does work. But, for those few that understand you never talk to the LEO without an attorney, they will get off with out 100% positive ID of the person in control of the vehicle. You are not required by law to state who you lent your car or bike to. Now, some states may have changed this.
In NC a good traffic attorney is about $250 for the case.

Stop light cameras are in use all over the U.S. As are automated speed traps. How does this differ?

Do like me and ride all winter. Maybe it'll give ya a little time to cool off.

Ah, I see now. This explains a lot. You are right and everyone else is wrong.
As a former troop you should realize this is dangerous at highway speeds period.
From your posts you would say it is okay to travel/pass and or lane split in either lane above the posted limit if you feel you are being held up. After all the Blue Wall would apply to you, right?
As a former troop, can you please site the statue for reference and edification of the group as it is written in the last state which you worked. Specifically where it would permit or be acceptable to lane split at highway speeds.

Unless I know you AND we are riding together, always assume that I am in possession of the entire lane. If I am casually cruising on the highway I will happily use both sides of MY lane to avoid wind pockets, passing cars, etc....
Passing in my lane would be very hazardous to all parties involved. It would also put you at the wrong end of a Paulie Jr. look alike with a pink Polo shirt on.

I know with the red light and speed cameras here the vehicle owner is ticketed the same way it would be with a parking ticket.

I got a ticket with a camera,,,,, you could see my pearly whites as plain as day,,, there is a radio talk host that is a lawyer here and gives free advice,,,, he said for married couples to register your cars that you drive on a daily basis in each others name.... when the ticket comes they ask you if this is you,,,,, it won't be cuz the car is reg. in your wife's name,,,, and you DO NOT have to tell them who it is,,,, no ID,,,,, no ticket,,, can't comment on parking tickets being different from moving violations,,, but again NO ID NO TICKET in my case

They are civil tickets. No points, no record on the DMV report.

I already 365, except for when there is snow or ice on the roads. Been riding for street bikes for 25 years.
